Question: Lake sturgeon have lived in Michigan’s waters since before the Great Lakes formed. How long can some of them live?

Answer: More than 400 years. A new study found a sturgeon swimming today could have been alive around the time of the Pilgrims. Researchers caught, tagged, and released the same fish over many years to measure their growth. The fish can historically grow up to 9 feet long.
