All three astronauts, David Scott, James Irwin, and Alfred Worden, had U-M ties, making Apollo 15 the only mission with a single alma mater. The 45-word plaque founded the first and only alumni chapter off the planet. Despite campus legend, they left no Michigan flag, only an American one.
